Standard Long-Tubes have 1-5/8" Primary tubes from the engine to the collector. The collector is 2.5"

Stepped Long-Tubes have 1-5/8" Primary tubes from the engine and, at some point along the way, the "step up" to 1-3/4" diameter tubing. The collector is 3"

The Stepped long-tubes are made primarily to support the BIG horsepower trucks...

I wouldnt worry about the stepped headers unless you are planning on a built motor with mega-boost / nitrous and over 600rwhp.

Just for reference, I am still running the standard headers and I am making 620rwhp (a bunch more than that when I spray nitrous :) ) With that said, i would like to upgrade to larger headers, but I think I want to go bigger than what is available, so Im gonna have to do a custom deal...
